Tradeline education

What they are and are not.

What a tradeline is

A tradeline is any account that appears on a credit report, such as a credit card, auto loan or mortgage. Being added as an authorized user on someone else's account can add that account's history to your report, in some scoring models.

Cautions

  • Results are not guaranteed, and some scoring models and lenders discount or ignore authorized-user accounts.
  • Paying a stranger to be added to an account may be viewed negatively by lenders, and misrepresenting a purchased tradeline on a loan application can be unlawful.
  • A family member or trusted person with a long, on-time account with low utilization is a safer, free option for some people.
  • Better first steps for most people: fix errors, lower utilization, pay on time and consider a secured card or credit-builder loan.
Credit Readiness Hub does not sell or place tradelines at launch. Any future offer will be reviewed by counsel, require an audit first and be fully disclosed.
